Endless Activities at 'Town Hill'
Commonly referred to as 'Town Hill', Snow King Resort was the first ski resort in Wyoming and among one of the first few ski areas in the country. Originally established in 1930, the Snow King Resort offers not only skiing but also caters to snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts. Summer also means alpine mini-golf, alpine slide, horseback riding, bungee trampoline, scenic chairlift rides, hiking and paragliding. In the summertime, the ski slopes turn into beautiful green hillsides filled with wildflowers.
The King is also home to a variety of events, especially throughout the winter season. The Jackson Hole Mountain Games, Climb the King, the Town Downhill, and end-of-season Pond Skim. Snow King Mountain recently underwent a $3.5 million upgrade in 2014, in order to provide artificial snow. This new snow making infrastructure allows for earlier opening dates and better conditions.
Also at the base of Snow King Mountain is The Snow King Sports and Events Center. This facility is host to open ice skating, figure skating, Moose hockey games, as well as youth and adult hockey leagues. Serving as the only indoor ice rink in Jackson Hole the Events Center also hosts large conventions, conferences, trade shows and other entertainment based events. Hockey Association, the Jackson Hole Moose Hockey team, has a 30-game home schedule that takes place throughout the winter season on Friday and Saturday nights.
Snow King Mountain is a popular place year-round and caters to all age levels since it is noted for its skiable, consistent pitch. Serving as a winter playground, the Jackson Hole area receives more annual snowfall than other resorts in the lower-48 Rocky Mountain Region.
