This series of watercolors are from my recent season working in the backcountry of Yellowstone. Using my sketchbook as reference, I have focused on capturing the color relationships I witness in these remote locations.
Sam Ritchie is an artist living and working wherever she happens to be. After graduating from the Art School at Cooper Union in New York City in 2016, she has since expanded her horizons West. With the completion of her second season working as a Backcountry Ranger at Yellowstone National Park, she plans to keep finding ways to balance her art practice with engagement in conservation work.
