Renowned author Jeannette Walls will speak on Sunday, May 6th to kick off Mental Health Awareness month in Jackson. Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, spent over 200 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list and was adapted into a film of the same name released in August 2017. In The Glass Castle, Walls details her family’s struggles with mental health, addiction, hunger and poverty, and how she emerged from the immense challenges she faced in childhood. Walls will address how mental health affected her upbringing and the positive attributes she developed in the face of adversity, such as independence and resilience. A book signing will follow the presentation.
