Living for the Weekend

Here in Jackson Hole, we thrive all year ‘round, and Winter only solidifies our enthusiasm. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at just some of the events and activities that’ll be going on this weekend. There’s plenty for all, you won’t be disappointed. Then again, the Hole doesn’t disappoint.

Organized by the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club, the Wes Barron Speed Series will be taking place at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Friday through Sunday.

The Patagonia Worn Wear Tour will be making a weekend stop here in Jackson Friday and Saturday by the Clock Tower, thanks to the teaming-up of Teton Village Sports and JH Sports. It’s all about learning to protect and repair your winterwear.

Before we get into the late-evening and nighttime fun, there’s something going on for you early-birds. Take a ride over to Driggs. Their City Plaza has its 7th annual Driggs Snowscapes event going on all day Friday. Up to 10 teams will have large snow sculptures on display. Everyone, especially the kiddos, always loves it…that’s why it’s still going on and growing seven years later.

The Moose Hockey Game heats up on the ice Friday night at 7 at the Snow King Sports & Event Center. Plenty of hometown spirit to bring to the game!

Speaking of being on ice, don’t forget the Town Square. Winter Wonderland ice skating continues for the whole family to enjoy.

On Sunday, on offer is the National Theater’s presentation of a live recording of another timeless classic live: “Peter Pan”!

On the music side of things, Michael Charles, a Hall of Fame bluesman, will be performing all weekend in Teton Village at the Mangy Moose. You want to hear some good blues? Nah, you want to hear some great blues!

And don’t forget the Wort Hotel, that legend among legends. As you know, they’ve always got something hot cooking. And Friday night, it’ll be Sneaky Pete and the Secret Weapons in the Silver Dollar Showroom. This you’ve gotta see!

And lest we forget, the Pink Garter Theatre will be having Fiesta Bob Friday night. There’s going to be an awful lot of dancing going on to warm this town up, that I can tell ya.

Look, I know you’ve got a lot of choices now, but what’s one more on the heap, after all, right? There’s a country western swing workshop happening over at the Center for the Arts on Friday night. Lay into those boots and tip those hats on the floor!

We’ve covered theatrical and musical tastes. Now, how about tasting some mighty fine beer (you were thinking I was going to say “wine”, didn’t you?). Wyoming’s oldest brewery—and still going strong—the Snake River Brewery, will be having a tasting at Bin 22 Friday afternoon at 3. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere in the world. Oh, and taste responsibly.

You’ve got to fill your belly with some food though. May we recommend doing so while honoring Scotland’s greatest bard, Robert Burns? It’ll be his 258th birthday on Saturday. Alpenhof Lodge will be providing the eats (maybe some haggis?), along with kilts, bagpipes, poetry, toasts, a Scottish banquet, and some whiskey. Be sure to RSVP, this very popular event will be memorable.

You know what? I know, I know, we’ve got so many great events to consider, but we would be remiss if we didn’t let you polka fans know about your own party happening at the Alpenhof Lodge on Sunday at 3. It’ll knock your socks off!

And don’t forget, Stargazing is always, always an option. There aren’t a whole of lot of places that you can get closer to the stars than around the Hole. It’s an awe-inspiring opportunity to check out the heavens’ majesty.

Whelp, that oughta keep you busy for awhile. Enjoy the fun. Enjoy Jackson Hole. And if you’re reading this and can’t make it to the Hole, you can watch it here. Happy weekend to you.
